Tasca do Petrol – A Memorable Meal in the Algarve

Tasca do Petrol

A Tasca do Petrol is located in the Monchique mountains a 30 minute drive from Portimão, in a beautiful part of the Algarve. You will enjoy a meal to remember for about €15 a person.

Run by the Nunes family it has been open for more than 50 years. Nélia is in the kitchen and Pedro and Osvaldo look after the tables. The eldest, Osvaldo worked on cruise ships for ten years and speaks fluent English. He also runs an estate agency and sells an average of 15 properties a year to English, Irish, Swedish and American customers who visit the restaurant.

Tasca do Petrol is very popular with locals and tourists alike so book in advance to avoid disappointment.

Delicious pork dishes such as; black pork, roast pork, roast wild boar, pork stew and roast lamb.  Very generous portions of slow cooked food from a wood-fired oven and the house wine is good too. All products cooked in the restaurant are sourced from the village farmers. They make their own bread daily and there is a wonderful selection of desserts among them fig tart and almond tart. If you can’t finish everything they will happily provide you with a tin foil container.
