Adega Amável, Faro – Not Your Typical Touristy Restaurant

Adega Amavel

A 10 minute walk from Forum Algarve shopping centre in Faro, you’ll find Adega Amável, it used to be a wine depot for years. João and his wife Isabel have transformed the warehouse into a welcoming space where you can enjoy a tapas style menu. Mr. João worked for years in the hotel trade in New York and speaks fluent English. João is a great fan of Amália Rodrigues the famous fado singer and he has fado music playing in the background.

It sits about 20 people at tables using old wine casks. They serve lunch everyday, Tuesday is very popular because that’s when they serve their  stew with bacon, chouriço and chickpeas. If you like fish we’d recommend cuttlefish on a Friday, local produce and very fresh.

Locals also come here to buy their bread specially baked for the Adega, cheese and smoked ham. They also buy wine here which João sources from the Alentejo province.
